Changing Your Life for Jesus

Ephesians 4:17-24 “This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
I think sometimes we get so distracted by the world that we forget this verse, and its implications. When we become Christians- it is not some hobby that we enjoy when the moment seems right- it is a way of life. A change in our lives if we allow it that makes us into the people that God created us to be. We cannot continue with old habits and later pray for forgiveness. To knowingly commit sin seems sort of silly. I mean everyone sins, but the mindset of “oh I will pray for forgiveness later” seems a little like you are gambling with your salvation. Why would you risk eternity over earthly pleasure? This life will soon pass away, and we must never forget that at any time Jesus could come back- no one knows the day or hour. IF Jesus were to come back this very moment or even tomorrow what would he find you doing? Would it be something that makes him proud of makes you hide in shame?
